August 7: "Other recumbents"

Arrival at Höfn at 12:15 PM: not being able to sleep any longer, we were up at 5:30 AM. In the middle of the night, my buttocks touch the ground... air mattress leak. Yves told me that I should have woken him up to reinflate it: the poor darling! Thereafter every mroning at about 4:00 AM he blows it up again and without complaint! What an angel. We had been well inspired to leave so early because half an hour after pitching our tent, it started to rain and continued without interruption until the evening. The Hofn campsite was a dissapointment, the meal corner being open to the wind and cold. Fortunately there was a good surprise in store: "Madame Destrubé?" asks à lady out of the blue! Her surgeon who was also Anne's collegue in the parisian clinic where she works, had told her to keep an eye open for a couple on a tandem in Iceland. And that's how we met the Fournier family who we invited to dinner upon our return to Paris. We also stopped to chat with a dutch couple we crossed on single seater recumbents whose existence on the island we had heard about on several occasions.
