August 28: "Return
home"
The bicycle being
all packed and ready to leave, we were able to sleep in, since after a months
of daily practice, we had become pretty good at packing the rest of our belongings
in record time. Tent folded and luggage packed just 5 minutes before the first
drizzle of the morning. We thus leave Reykjavik as we found it: very wet and
gray but this time without the fear that this could last another 4 weeks.
The bus which came to pick us up was the right size. And contrarily to Charles
de Gaulle Airport in France, no hastle about taking our bicycle on board the
plane. (We were not even charged extra for our 50 kg green case!) Thus our
holidays end like a dream, all the more pleasant that the painful moments
are already little more than vague memories without much importance, especially
compared to all these fabulous visions of the astonishing natural beauty of
this volcanic island which jostle for a front row seat in our minds.
