August 25: "NO FEAR!"
Day of cruising around
what seemed to us a very long fjord where the road constantly changed it's
mind about wanting to go up or down, fortunately not as abruptly as in the
eastern fjords. Beside the road, a tiny little stream of water steaming hot!
Volcanic magma obviously very close by. One of the peaks of our roller coaster
road being a little higher than the others, we hit a top speed of 65,5 km/h.
After over 1000 km of back seat driving, Anne seemed to have gained much more
confidence in me as head pilot since I heard no hint of the usual "slow
down". When we got back on the n° 1 road, traffic was much more fluid
than the day before and thus a thousand times more pleasant.
A great campsite at
Mossfellbaer. And at the nearby swimming pool, precise and flattering scales
that weighed me in at 69.150 kg., 5 kg less than when we set off. The manufacturer
being a reputed German firm, (Soehnle) I have no reason to have any doubts
about the reliability of this figure. The scales on the womens' side were
a little less friendly: only 2 kg lost. Renewed pleasure to relax our muscles
in the hot tub where we discussed with two americain archeologists doing research
here. And in spite of the nearness of the very busy and therefore noisy road,
we slept as soundly as usually.
